Wildblood + Queenie’s April Gscene Wonders

However fleeting, that’s sunshine peeking through the clouds promising a summer of love and we reckon its time to prepare with some April wonders. First up is the must hear low-down shady slo-mo beats of Greymatter’s No Blood Without on Unique Uncut Records. Quality. As are the ever mind expanding adventures of electro, new wave, and EBM Hamburg heroine Helena Hauff’s A Tape on Dark Entries, the bleeps and beeps of Tenacity 2017 and the funk fuelled session that is Rebirth 10 (Remixed) on Rebirth. Girl those grooves are fine.

Also ticking our April box this month is the Tooting brilliance of Soulnaturals Love Says Yes! on British Soul Standard, the sublime sonic sensation that is Greg Gow’s Lost Days on Social Experiment Records and the twisted dancefloor delights of
Anthony Parasole’s Infrared Vision
on Dekmantel UFO.

Add our April besties courtesy of Terry Francis’ tech house opus Together on Hallucienda, Chopstick & Johnjon’s exquisite Reviewed 01 on Suol and the divine Hector Romero’s Weaving Genres on Nervous Records and yes, as Bourgie Bourgie sings, we are living the life. Enjoy.

Wildblood + Queenie’s February Gscene Wonders

This month the tunes are as joyful as the hopes only spring can bring, yes its time to get loved up and heartfelt. First up is the jazz-fuelled delight that is Songs For Knotty by Ishmael Ensemble on the tasty (sorry couldn’t help ourselves) Banoffee Pies label. One for the lovers. As are the minimal and ambient wonders of S.A.M.’s Dream State Of A Bellmaker on Delaphine and the Various Artists delivering the spacey sounds of Slow Porn presente Prise de Vue 1 on My Favorite Robot Records – although probably best not tell your mum.

Longplayers guaranteed to engage the body this month include Alessio Modrian’s addictive synths of Nuove Tracce (Di Vita Su Marte) on The Dub label, the misty early morning beats of Call Super fabric 92 on Fabric, the brilliant Masai Volume One on Oleeva Records and the thrilling house showcase that is Techfui Family’s Components on Techfui.

As for those making our hearts skip a beat? It has to be the divine sounds of Culoe De Song’s Watergate 21 mix, the must-dance acid house undertones of The Mekanism’s Breath on Play It Say It and the glorious grime of Letta’s Redemption on Coyote Records. A moving moment in electronic music that will stay with you long after spring has bloomed. Enjoy.

Perfect Distraction: Sandy Turnbull’s Deep Inside Yourself EP

More infectious than that annoying cough we’ve all been knocked sideways by and more spacey than Kevin, Sandy Turnbull’s new EP Deep Inside Yourself on Galleria Records will get your temperature rising in the right direction this January. Filtered, spacey and cooler than a menthol infusion, Deep Inside Yourself is everything you could desire from an underground house track. As Yoda would say, sweat you will.

And if you want the heat rising further then the b-side brilliance of Going Back with its bouncing bassline and swish disco samples will deliver. Over and over and over. Just like Mr Turnbull’s ever expanding discog of the good stuff. Which is definitely what our chills need this winter. Hot house in cold climes. Turn it up.

Sandy Turnbull Deep Inside Yourself / Going Back  is released on Galleria Records on the 3rd February 2017 galleriarecords.com/
