It’s the merry month of May and I have to say what a marvellous month it is with the long light evenings, the birds singing and…..but hey. This ain’t Country File. This is a reminder to get your dancing shoes on and skip off down the disco. So with that in mind, Queen Josephine caught up with the completely gorgeous Zach Burns. A man with the right tune for every occasion, whether it’s in Brighton, London or beyond. And one thing’s for sure – when you lose yourself on his dance floor you’re sure to feel that spring sap rising!
Where Can We See You Playing? In Brighton you can hear me on Saturdays at Revenge Club for Sweet Revenge and in London at The Edge Bar Soho, Orange Nations Beyond, A:M, Society & Orange and at Popcorn at Heaven.
How Would You Describe Your DJ Style? Over the years I’ve experimented and played many different styles of house, starting with uplifting Circuit and Vocal Funky House and moving on to the more current Deep and Tech House sounds. It depends really on the event I’m playing and the audience it caters for. Style wise I like to weave in and out of tracks and create live mash ups. But I always try to keep it upbeat & fresh!
What’s Your Favourite Song Of All Time? Hard to pick favourites when there are so many tunes I like! But from a great memories point of view, one that always stood out and got me into the Circuit sound was J. Velarde & Luque feat Giovanni Vitty’s Sundays At Heaven after hearing Steve Pitron play it at Brighton Pride 2009. Love Love Love that track!!
What tune always fills up (or rescues) your dancefloor? There are a few!!! Anything by Beyonce or Rihanna for the commercial venues, and Mark Knight Your Love always works wonders across the board. Route 94’s My Love and Clean Bandit’s Rather Be look to become floor fillers too.
What Would Be Your Ultimate Dream Gig? The Circuit Festival In Barcelona would be a dream come true, as would Madrid Pride. I’m putting the work in now so hopefully it will become reality!
Guilty Pleasure? Madonna Into The Groove. Actually (blushes), the 80s in general 🙂
What’s Been Your Best Gig Ever? Becoming the London resident for International Circuit Party PAPA and joining their world tour in Brazil to play at The Week in Sao Paulo to 2000 plus people. There was such an amazing energy and atmosphere that I just didn’t want it to end!
Tell Us A Secret? It wouldn’t be a secret if I told you now would it?
