Wildblood and Queenie’s (delayed) January Wonders

A little late…due to circumstances (and stairs) beyond our control.

So that was that. 2013. Done and dusted. Glorious but gone. Time to, as Carole Sylan once sung, look ahead. First up is the gloriously kooky koolness of Various Artists fabric 72 on Fabric in which every element of electronica is represented with a chaotic charm thatā€™s bound to enchant. So to will the sound ventures of Spencer Parkerā€™s Its Not Over longplayer, which delivers the right amount of Berlin based brilliance as he plays with all things heavy in the house department. Also hailing for our favourite city is the wondrous compilation Wilde Liebe (Wild Love) on Wilde Records, a impressive journey through house from its deepest darks bleeps and bangs to the chunkiest of tech. Definitely worth your attention.

As is the deep glory that engulfs ones lugholes as you hunker down with Fred P and his mighty compilation Selected on Boards.Ā  Seriously good stuff that will have you shaking a tail feather ā€˜til the early hours. And if you like your techno ridiculously dark, twisted and, well, not easy listening, it has to be Dusty Kidā€™s III on Isolade. The neighbours still havenā€™t forgiven us for playing this one. Love it.

And finally our January gems. First itā€™s the too, too good Various 10 Years Of Crosstown Rebels compilation onā€ØCrosstown Rebels. Celebrating one of the best labels out there, it reads like a whoā€™s who of decent house music as The Royal We, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Francesco Lombardo, Russ Yallop, Soul Clap and many, many more remind us why we are all Crosstown Rebels. House as good as it gets and a reason to fall for them all over again. And then thereā€™s the sublime Various Artists BPM001 Mixed By Art Department onĀ No.19 Music. Yep the stylish boys are back and parading some mighty fine tousled tunes for your enjoyment. Believe us, get lost in Art Department and youā€™ll not wanna find your way home. Enjoy.
