How on earth does it happen? One minute it’s ‘oooh which shorts shall I model today?’ the next it’s time to start dusting off the baubles! But hey, let’s get into the festive spirit! Trim those trees and hear about someone whose decks need to be in your halls. This month, Queenie chats with the lovely DJ Bozzy Bear about two upcoming events that need your support, a little penchant for Shirley and why Susan Boyle only seems like a good idea when you’ve had a few!
Where can we catch you playing over the festive period? I’ve heard there’s a little charity event coming up that sounds exciting! Yes, at 11am on 30th November I’ll be playing at the Sussex Beacon’s Bring and Buy sale at their shop on London Road. DJs Queen Josephine and Kate Wildblood will be joining me on the decks and we’ll be playing anything and everything, including bits of vinyl that are donated on the day.
Tell us about your djing style! My style is very much old school, revived and remixed with a good mix of up-to-date dance tunes. But it always depends on the crowd and the venue.
What’s your favourite tune of all time? And, what with it being Xmas and all, a festive fave too?? I Feel Love by Donna Summer – a timeless classic that can be played at any venue. Yuletide-wise it’s got to be Last Christmas by Wham! Cheesy, but everyone loves it!
Which song always fills up/rescues your dancefloor? Classic tunes like Show Me Love by Robin S or Where Love Lives by Alison Limerick
What would be your ultimate dream gig – either at Xmas or anytime? I would love to DJ in a Pride tent. I would also love to have played at Heaven nightclub in the 80s.
Name a tune you wish you’d never played and why! I once played a remix of Susan Boyle – big mistake! Why? I must have had too many sherries!!!
What’s your guilty pleasure? I love a bit of Drum and Bass, and enjoy a dose of Shirley Bassey.
What’s been your best ever gig? I warmed up for the Freemasons during Pride 2009. That was a fantastic buzz!
Tell us a yuletide secret!!! I’ll be dressing up in leather at the Christmas Bear Weekender Saints and Sinners fundraiser at Subline on the night of 30th November.
