Just in case it had escaped anybodies noticed there’s a little festival coming up here in Brighton and Hove on the first weekend in August. So whilst you’re worrying about which outfits to wear and when, whether it’s sun-cream or a rain hat that needs to get stuffed into your hand/man bag and just how many exes you’ll bump into at the parade, a slightly over-excited Queen Josephine catches up with the fabulous Richard Jones to find out how he’ll be entertaining you over what will undoubtedly be the best Pride ever! Just make sure you’re ready to get those arms aloft because wherever Mr Jones is there’s sure to be a right proper paaaaaarrrrrrtttttyyyyy…….

Where can we see you playing over the Pride weekend? Pride Saturday I’ll be at the Men’s Area in Preston Park and at the Terrace Party at Legends Bar. Then on Pride Sunday I’ll be playing Sunday Sundae at Audio and the Official Pride Closing Party at Shoosh!

What song are you most looking forward to playing this Pride? I can’t wait to play Big Mountain by Daniel Bovie ft Sandrine. It’s just soooooo good!

Please describe your djing style! Funky, eclectic and always hands in the air (like you just don’t care).

Which tune always fills up (or rescues) your dancefloor? Show Me Love by Robin S…..the original twelve inch mix of course!

Name a tune you wish you’d never played (and why!) – at Pride or indeed anywhere? There really isn’t one, I won’t play tunes I don’t like – what would be the fun in that?

Pride aside, what would be your dream gig, no holds barred, in an ideal world? I’d love to play by the pool at Ushuaia Beach Hotel in Ibiza, or Studio 54 New York (the original one)!!!

Guilty pleasures? New York Cheesecake, Chavvy Boys, Nandos, Marks and Spencers ‘Shorty’ pyjamas & Emmerdale. (Queenie would like to thank Richard for his honesty here, plus the fact he’s owned up to more guilty pleasures than any other dj so far!)

What’s been your best ever gig? Too many to mention individually! However hearing the roar from the crowd when you play ‘the tune’ rocks my world, and has happened many times in the Wild Fruit tent at Pride over the years.

Tell us a secret! I was (maybe still am) the youngest DJ to mix an album in the UK – I was 18, it was proper Hi-energy….

What five songs will you definitely be playing this Pride?

1. Daniel Bovie ft Sandrine Big Mountain Essential Records

2. Bobby D’Ambrosio and Michelle Weeks Moment of my Life (The Family Master Remix 2013)  OSIO

3. The Winning Triplet Vs. Barbara Tucker and Andrea Paci We Wanna Boogie (Original   Vocal Mix) Fierce Angel Records

4. Calvin Harris ft Ayah Marar Thinking About You (Original Mix) Hed Kandi

5. Freemasons ft Katherine Ellis Tears (Club Mix) Loaded

Catch Richard doing his fabulous thing this Brighton Pride weekend at The Mens Tent at Icons In The Park, Legends, the ever wonderful Sunday Sundae at Audio and the Official Pride Closing Party at Shoosh!
