Queenie’s February wonders

Gscene_Feb13

Hello my dancing friends, Queen Josephine here. I’m afraid I’ll be flying solo for the next few months of album and single reviews as the missus concentrates all her energies into getting a fabulous degree result at university. So please get your ears wrapped around my fabulous February favourites.

First up is a real beauty as Various Artists parade their talents on Future Disco Volume 6 Night Moves on Needwant. From the sexy, Daft Punkish opener that is Miguel Campbell’s Not That Kind Of Girl through to the epic Crazy P anthem Heartbreaker, via remixes by men of the moment Mario Basinov and Maceo Plex, this entire album is not only an aural addiction, it’ll have you dancing your socks off right through til March. Next up is Trus’me Treat Me Right on Prime Numbers. With it’s slightly dark sensuous overtones this album does everything right and will certainly keep you bumping and grinding whilst giving you the odd Moonlight Kiss. Enormous! And now for a spot of Ibizan magic – well, it’s not too long until the parties start is it? Channel Zoo Compilation 001 by Michael James on Channel Zoo Recordings features such gorgeousness from the likes of Kerri Chandler and Fresh & Low that it’ll have you swishing round your boudoir in a sundrenched frenzy, desperately searching for your flip flops. Next in line is a taster from the soon to be released second album Extensions Of Yesterday by the ever youthful Franck Roger on Citrus Company. If the stomping percussive qualities and memorable melodies are anything to go by, this one’s going to be a real stayer. Smoked out boogie for the 21st century indeed!

Finally the trumpet fanfares start here. After knocking this old glam rock dolly sideways with his first single in a decade, the Stardust one will return with his album The Next Day on the 8th of March. Am slipping into a one legged leotard and dying my hair orange in anticipation…….
