Wildblood and Queenie’s May Wonders: Weatherall, Ame, Baker Street, mulletover, Deniz Kurtel and Nôze

May. A month of wonders, festival and fabulousness. Oh and a certain majestic birthday. But before we get distracted by candles and cake lets take a wander though the best May has to offer. First up is Human Woman’s self-titled album ‘Human Woman’ on hfn. Its like the summer of love is with us once more as the atmospheric synths and guitar demand you go with the flow. Simply lovely.

If its genius your after then check out ‘Masterpiece mixed by Andrew Weatherall’ on Ministry Of Sound. Inspirational and one to treasure, Weatherall gives a masterclass in the art of listening and learning. Âme’s ‘Live’ on Innervision conjures up a session so sublime it’ll get you in all sorts of saucy trouble if you play it in the right kind of company. (You know what we mean!) Genre worries are banished, the tempo different and the result class.

Also worth a honourable mention this May is the cute as hell house of Marissa Guzman’s ‘Joy Road Remixes’ on Juicy Lucy Records. With Kerri Chandler, Demarkus Lewis, Black Coffee and more on board you just know satisfaction is guaranteed. Plus get head your head round the superb Various Artists delivering nowt but the best in right proper house on Baker Street Recordings’ ‘5th Anniversary Album’. It’s a celebration they so deserve to be making and you will love being part of.

Finally our must-haves of May. Yes with that cash you saved not buying MDNA (sorry Madge but this time those tunes are indefensible) go get some decent stuff. First it has to be ‘Geddes presents mulletover: The Story So Far 2004-2012’ on murmur. One listen and you’re on the dancefloor. A spot on celebration of British underground clubbing we truly adore. And if that adoration is repeatable on one page its heading towards Deniz Kurtel & The Marcy All-Stars’ new album ‘The Way We Live – The Singles’ on Wolf + Lamb. Deep, intelligent and delightful, this will ensure May is your month of love. Finally our ‘blimey missus’ moment goes to Nôze’s ‘Body Language Vol 11 mixed by Nôze’
on Get Physical. On repeat since landing in our inbox, Nôze’s soundtrack of ‘love and craziness’ has had us smitten. This ain’t no summer standard club compilation, this is deep house and techno of the special kind. Magnificent.
