Just what makes your DJ tick? What tunes did those headphone-wearing lovelies listen to way back when? Here at GScene we thought it was time to find out. Hence the desert island. No palm trees, just decent tunes. This month we have the lovely DJ Trick
Timbaland Feat. Keri Hilson & DOE ‘The Way I Are’ Interscope.
Simply the best dance-pop-hip-hop fusion I have ever heard. At my first ever Brighton Pride in 2007 this was the biggest tune and I found myself playing it at all of my Pride gigs this year! EPIC!
Nicki Minaj ‘Superbass’ Young Money, Columbia Records.
Yay, our fave Young Money star has broken out & keeps on impressing. This is her biggest killer from her debut solo album and I can’t get enough.
Jennifer Lopez ‘Waiting For Tonight’ Epic.
My fave 90’s pop track that still goes down a storm today. I love Jennifer Lopez, she is quite possibly my favourite contemporary pop diva who still has an incredible voice, incredible moves & that incredible ass!
Britney Spears ‘Toxic’ Jive.
I love it when Brit works with edgy producers like Bloodshy & Avant. It suits Britney perfectly; fast, bubbly & sexy with a side of crazy.
Example ‘Kickstarts’ Data.
Such a fun tune, its hard to find anyone who doesn’t like this one from a great British artist whose popularity is soaring.
DJ Fresh Feat. Cecile ‘Gold Dust’ Data Records.
This track is just a total winner, an inspirational British DJ bringing Drum & Bass up to the top of the charts by adding great vocals.
Kanye West ‘Stronger’ Roc-A-Fella, Def Jam.
Electro-hop; such a great concept, take a much loved sample from electro-house duo Daft Punk & create an uplifting rap to take it to the next level.
Destiny’s Child ‘Lose My Breath’ Columbia.
These amazingly talented girls along with Jay Z and Darkchild makes me so happy when I hear this out.
Rihanna ‘S&M’ Def Jam.
A recent fave which has been majorly overplayed but with good reason, I’m sure this one is a keeper that I will still love & play in years & years
Chase & Status Feat. Liam Bailey ‘Blind Faith’ Mercury.
Such a sexy, dirrty naughty track, when I first downloaded this I thought it would be the kind of track that only I would appreciate whilst getting ready to go out at midnight, but amazingly its taken off, I now even get requests for it at Revenge which makes me very happy.
You can catch DJ Trick playing at Rbar every Wednesday, at Lollipop Fridays at Revenge, supporting Emile Sande at Proud Ballrooms as well as special events over Halloween
