Wildblood and Queenie’s March wonders – Dimitri, Chus, Penn, Ben Jamin, Art Department, Rick ‘The Godson’ Wilhite, Tensnake,

And so it arrives, our favourite month of the year. Warm earth, happy hearts and a soundtrack full of promise. March bounces into view and suddenly all is less chilly with the world. First up the disco explosive ‘Knights of The Playboy Mansion’ mixed by Dimitri From Paris & Bob Sinclar on Defected. A work of love from the lover boys this disco daze of a compilation will rock your bunny tails with style. “Come with me, tonight’s the night” and all that. Space Ranger look set to blast us into the electronic stratosphere this Spring with their twisted indie disco wonder ‘What About The Magnetic Fields?’ on Lovemonk. With gravity defying disco beats and a sense of cheeky humor in tracks like ‘Shave Me I’m Famous’ this longplayer is deserving of your attention. A 21st century disco odyssey.

If a blast off into house land is what your after then ‘Azuli presents Global Guide ’11’ Mixed by Ricky Rivaro on Azuli will get you there double sharpish. This Azuli re-launch wastes no time in delivering an upfront must dance mix that includes the brilliant Kings of Tomorrow, Chris Lake & Marco Lys and Spencer Parker & Ian Pooley. Happy days. As for happy futures you’ll find it courtesy of ‘Defected In The House Miami ’11’ Mixed by DJ Chus and David Penn on Defected. If you’ve not done Chus and Penn yet now is the time to open you mind. Chunky beats with true house aesthetics. We love it. Also worth your hard earned this month is the sax-fuelled house of ‘Charlie Hearnshaw gets Peng!’ on Peng Records, the exquisite experimental beats of Lucy ‘Wordplay for Working Bees’ on Stroboscopic Artefacts and our favourite Mixtape of the month from DJ Ben Jamin (ben-jamin.podomatic.com/). The deck moves he makes with The Supremes ‘My World Is Empty Without You’ are a wonder to behold.

Finally our must, must, must-hears. First up the loved up loops and samples of Rick ‘The Godson’ Wilhite. His ‘Analog Aquarium’ on Still Music is loved up as a March hare overdosing on red roses full of the kind of groove perfection rare in a world of been there, heard that. Sweet as. And finally there’s The Art Department much longed for second album ‘The Drawing Board’ on Crosstown Rebels. Note the pattern people, this label is delivering over and over and with The Art Department’s gothic house, you’ll soon find every deep bleep synth haunts insists on its addictive status. Someday all electronica will feel this good. Enjoy the love.
