Wildblood’s November Wonders

I love, love, love this time of year. Digging out the mittens, embracing the chill and stoking the fire that is clubbing in the winter. Yes the smoking terrace maybe freezing and the coat check queue enormous but my, the tunes are hot.

I’ve had so many genius albums popping into my inbox this month it’s hard to pick one out for special treatment. So here instead are many must-haves. Each a November treat. First up is the soul warming ‘The Shakedown’ from Speedometer on Freestyle Records. It’s hard not to love its funk roots and soul credentials as Speedometer turn the up the heat. Bringing a welcome reminder of summer ‘The Afro Sound Of Ibiza Vol.1’ by Afribiza on New World Africa Records, compiled by DJ Stan-ley & New World Africa Records, realigns the dance position of our favourite island with some 21st Century African dance that’ll blow your bikini / Speedos / long johns off. * Delete as applicable.

Fabric deliver with the truly inspiring roots and reggae of ‘FabricLive 55: David Rodigan’ whilst Leo Zero‘s ‘Disconnect’ on Strut will keep every disco aficionado happy in their beats. DJ Mark Farina’s ‘Mushroom Jazz Vol 7’ is simply adorable with its hip-hop jazz infused grooves whilst Ernesto Ferreyra’s ‘El Paraiso De Las Tortugas’ multi-tasking kinda electronica on Cadenza is a diamond.

See, told you there was a shit load of good stuff about this month. As for the best of the November best? The Layabouts’ deliver a ‘stop what your doing and listen’ moment with their exquisite ‘Deep InEN5’ longplayer on Papa Records. If you don’t feel the opening track ‘Perfectly’ I’d check you still have a pulse. Seriously delicious stuff. Defected’s global adventures continue with the wonderful ‘Defected ITH Tokyo 11 Studio Apartment’ and ‘Defected ITH Tokyo 11 Rae’. Loving their vocal favour and house faith. Again. As for my November sparkler? It has to be ‘Kitsuné Maison 10 The Fireworks Issue’. Never has one album demanded the dance such as this. Perfection. Enjoy.
